I began working with Jennifer as the result of an upcoming job layoff. I was nervous about what was next for me and initially planned my work with Jennifer to focus on my next career move. However the work we did together was so much more than that. Jennifer is intuitive and insightful.  She asked smart questions and designed relevant activities that forced me to reflect in ways that extended beyond what my next job would be. Her approach is intentional, direct, and thoughtful. Jennifer has an innate ability to read between the lines to dissect your words and experiences displaying an intuition that cannot be taught. Since working with her, I feel stronger, healthier, and more in control of my next steps in both career and life.

Jennifer's coaching helped organize my thinking about my current professional trajectory. Her empowering questions allowed me to take inventory of the strengths and weaknesses of my current position. Working with Jennifer I became clear about  my next career endeavor.  I've recommended her to colleagues.

I know Jennifer well because she was one of my first doctoral advisees when I was an Assistant Professor at UC Berkeley.  With her strong academic background and exceptional work ethic, Jennifer completed her doctorate at Berkeley in just four years.  Her thesis was nominated for the outstanding dissertation award and Jennifer was immediately hired at Emory University in a tenure track position.  Most importantly, she is a productive scholar, who is committed to publishing her work and making it available to practitioners and scholars in her field.  I have no doubt that her impact on the field of education will be felt for many years to come.

I have had the honor and distinct privilege of knowing Dr. Jennifer Obidah professionally for the past 8 years. Dr. Obidah was my Ph.D. supervisor from September, 2010 until I graduated with High Commendation in October, 2015. I do not believe in coincidences and meeting with Dr. Obidah for the first time back in 2009, I had felt an immediate connection. I was drawn to her strength, directness and compassion, traits that make her an exceptional leader, someone who can make a difference in this world. I am always going to be grateful, as long as I live, for Dr. Obidah who believed in me, encouraged me and helped me to bring the best out of myself.

I have had the good fortune of working with Jennifer as a colleague for almost five years while she was at UCLA.  As an instructor, Jennifer was phenomenal. Her evaluations were among the best in the department. Students described her teaching as “inspiring” “life changing” and “teaching that pushes critical thinking about urban education.” She is truly as asset to our profession.
